Do I need sewing experience?
Yes, this course is designed for people who already have some sewing experience. You don't need to be an expert or know how to make complex garments from scratch, but you should be comfortable using a sewing machine.
The course goes straight into alterations. It does not teach 'how to sew' or 'how to use a sewing machine.'
If you're a complete beginner who's never touched a sewing machine, you will struggle. I'd recommend getting familiar with the basics of machine sewing first, then this course will make much more sense and you'll get far more out of it.
What equipment will I need?
Nothing complicated or expensive. A basic sewing machine is ideal, along with simple tools like scissors, pins, a measuring tape, and a needle and thread.
There's a full equipment list at the start of the course outlining everything essential.
What garments are covered?
The course focuses on the most common everyday garments people actually want to alter; pants, jeans, dresses, shirts and tops. These are the pieces most people struggle with and where alterations make the biggest difference to fit.
Each alteration is demonstrated on a different piece of clothing, but all the techniques can be applied across a wide variety of garments.
